Job Description
GunBay Global Advisory is a technology- and AI-enabled consulting firm based within Cayman Enterprise City. Our clients are operating companies and funds that need rigorous financial infrastructure, sound cross-border structure, and modern systems to scale. Among our key engagements, we provide finance and operational support to Subvertere Capital, a fund focused on productive, cash-generative businesses across Latin America in food, energy, and worker infrastructure. We are growing rapidly: today we support businesses of roughly $32M in scale, and over the next 18 months we expect to be supporting clients of $150M and beyond.
We operate explicitly outside conventional institutional bureaucracy. We do not hire people who are locked into traditional state-centric financial orthodoxy, nor do we align with collectivist or socialist economic worldviews. We believe in individual sovereignty, sound money principles, direct ownership of physical assets, and modern, friction-free treasury architecture for our clients—uniting top-tier international banking, physical vaulted bullion, and digital dollar settlement.
Job Description
We are seeking an ambitious, high-horsepower Financial Controller to take complete ownership of the multi-jurisdictional financial architecture of our firm and the clients we support. You are not coming in to balance settled legacy books. You are a builder hired to construct our financial infrastructure from the ground up: designing multi-entity charts of accounts, establishing independent scrutiny over client operating companies in Latin America, building NAV and reporting models for the fund we support, and partnering with our in-house data science and AI engineering talent to deploy a double-entry, relational database financial ledger.
Key Responsibilities
The Ideal Candidate Mindset
Freedom-Minded & Sovereignty-Aligned: You embrace free-market economic principles, personal autonomy, and sound money. You understand why business owners and their investors seek resilient, cross-border structures away from predatory state overreach.
Outside-the-Box First-Principles Thinker: You don't default to 'that's how traditional accounting firms do it.' You question legacy assumptions, look for elegant technological shortcuts, and build systems from first principles.
Builder, Not a Bureaucrat: You have 4–7 years of rigorous accounting/audit training (Big-4, mid-tier firm, or offshore administrator) and are tired of corporate red tape. You want to be the primary financial decision-maker in an agile, fast-scaling, technology- and AI-enabled consulting firm.
Tech-Fluent & Systems-Oriented: You speak 'data' and are comfortable translating accounting logic into automated relational database schemas (PostgreSQL) and AI-driven automation alongside elite mathematical engineers.
Detail-Obsessed & Audit-Ready: You take personal pride in clean reconciliations, airtight corporate governance, and keeping entities permanently prepared for institutional scrutiny.
Qualifications & Requirements
Professional accounting qualification (CPA, CA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent).
4+ years of hands-on experience in accounting, audit, or financial control within accounting firms, fund administrators, professional services firms, or multi-entity operating groups. Exposure to private equity, real estate, or fund accounting is a strong advantage given the fund client we support.
Working understanding of offshore structures (BVI and Cayman SPCs, partnership accounting, capital accounts, and multi-tier waterfalls) sufficient to support our fund client.
Career Stage: An energetic professional in the early-to-mid stage of their career, ready to step into their first primary Controller role.
Location: Grand Cayman resident (CEC work permit relocation available) OR remote within US/Americas time zones with willingness to travel to Cayman and Argentina 8–10 weeks per year.
Spanish language proficiency is a strong advantage given Argentine operations.
