Marc Ricketts, Cayman Enterprise City 2025-2026 IT Intern
Can you share a bit about your background and what you're currently working towards?
I am 16-year-old Marc Ricketts, and I am currently preparing to begin my college journey by pursuing an associate’s degree in computer science. After completing my associate’s degree, I plan to continue my education by earning a bachelor’s degree abroad, where I can further expand my knowledge and skills. My goal is to bring back the experience and education I gain to contribute to the development and improvement of my country.
What were your initial thoughts when you were placed at Cayman Enterprise City?
My initial thoughts when I was placed at Cayman Enterprise City were admiration and excitement. I was truly impressed by the company’s vision, values, and the goals they are working towards. I felt honoured and grateful for the opportunity to be part of such an inspiring organisation through my internship.
What has your experience been like working with the IT department, and what were some of your key responsibilities?
My experience working with the IT department was both impactful and educational. One of my key responsibilities during my internship was assisting with inventory management, which taught me the importance of organisation and attention to detail within the IT department.
I also helped with client and facility-related tasks around the workplace to help ensure the environment remained efficient and well maintained. In addition, I was trusted with sending important emails to different establishments, which helped me develop my communication and professionalism skills.
My experience working with the IT department was both impactful and educational. I had the privilege of working alongside an amazing supervisor who guided me through different tasks, taught me valuable technical and professional skills, and showed me how to handle various situations in the workplace.

What new skills or knowledge have you gained during your internship that you feel will be valuable moving forward?
Throughout my internship, I gained a great deal of valuable knowledge and experience. I developed stronger communication skills in the workplace and gained a better understanding of the career path I want to pursue in the world of IT.
The internship also helped me realise what it takes to succeed in this field and the steps I need to take to achieve my goals. In addition, I developed practical electrical and hands-on technical skills that I can apply both inside and outside of the workplace.
What has been a highlight of your internship, or a moment that stands out to you?
One of my favourite moments during my internship was helping to install monitors and monitor arms in different locations throughout the building. Another highlight was doing inventory on my own for the first time.
In what ways has this internship helped you grow personally and/or professionally?
This internship has helped me grow professionally in many ways. By being around different people and working with a professional team, I learned how to handle different situations in the workplace in a professional manner.
I have also grown personally by developing vital communication skills, which play a big role when working in a professional environment.
How has this experience influenced your future goals or career plans?
This experience has motivated me to work harder to achieve my goals. It also showed me the importance of hard work and helped me see my career path more clearly. It has opened my eyes to what I can achieve, and showed me that if I put my mind towards something, I can accomplish anything.
What advice would you give to other young Caymanians interested in tech careers?
The best advice I could give to young Caymanians interested in a career in tech is to work hard to gain the knowledge and experience needed to succeed. When you get a job, that experience and knowledge will help you become successful and become someone others can rely on, whether that’s your boss, teacher, or team.
