Skills That Lead Somewhere

Future Focused Pathways goes beyond training for the sake of training.

The programme is designed around tangible career progression. Enterprise Cayman works with participants to understand where they want to go, identify the skills or qualifications that could help them get there, and connect them with relevant training and industry-recognised certifications.

Depending on your pathway, this may include courses offered through Enterprise Cayman’s Pathways in Tech programme or stand-alone professional and technical certifications aligned with your career objectives.

The goal is simple: to help you develop skills you can put to work.

Connecting Skills With Opportunity

Cayman’s economy is becoming increasingly connected to specialised global industries, creating new opportunities in areas including technology, life sciences, digital services, financial technology and other knowledge-based sectors.

The challenge is ensuring Caymanians are equipped to participate fully in that growth.

CEC’s 2025 Socio-Economic Impact Assessment found that the number of Caymanians and Permanent Residents employed by Special Economic Zone companies increased 2.5 times between 2020 and 2025, reaching 172 employees. Of those, 61% were working in professional and leadership roles.

The types of opportunities available are also evolving. In 2025, 57% of positions advertised through Enterprise Cayman’s Jobs Portal were aligned with World Economic Forum growth categories, including software engineering, compliance management and systems analysis.

Future Focused Pathways is designed to help Caymanians build the capabilities needed to access opportunities like these.

Employers: Help Build Cayman’s Future Talent

Future Focused Pathways also gives businesses a practical way to invest directly in Caymanian workforce development.

Enterprise Cayman works with participating employers to understand current and emerging skills requirements and identify relevant training or certifications that can help Caymanians enter, remain in or progress within the workforce.

Employers can participate by:

  • Supporting an existing employee to gain new skills or certifications

  • Identifying skills gaps within their organisation or industry

  • Supporting emerging Caymanian talent

  • Helping align training with real workforce requirements

  • Creating clearer pathways into specialised career opportunities

Why Future Focused Pathways Matters

arrow-left arrow-right

Economic diversification creates the greatest value for Cayman when it creates opportunities for Caymanians alongside it.

As new industries and specialised businesses develop locally, Cayman needs a workforce with the skills to participate, progress and lead within them.

Future Focused Pathways helps strengthen the connection between education, skills development, employers and real career opportunitiesm, building local capability while supporting greater knowledge transfer and a deeper pool of specialised talent within the Cayman Islands.

“Ultimately, the measure of success is not how many courses someone completes; it is what those new skills allow them to do next. Whether that means securing a first job, moving into a specialised role, earning a promotion or pursuing an entirely new career, we want Future Focused Pathways to create tangible progression.”
